Grazing the covers of Teen Vogue and Elle, Emma Watson is guaranteed to be a hit. She has been working on the last installment of Harry Potter, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which is set to be released in November. The film is divided into two parts and the second half is scheduled to be released in July 2011. I have to admit I have never seen a Harry Potter film, but I can attest to the incredible style Emma exemplifies in these editorials. She pulls off both the rocker chic in British Elle and the demure young lady in Teen Vogue. She has a very versatile look and I am excited to see more of her in the future. Notice that while royal purple and blue were major color themes for Teen Vogue and Elle opted for a more basic color palette of black and white with just a touch of spunk; both showcase emerald hues which should be kept in mind when purchasing your fall essentials.

I want to see “The September Issue” June 24, 2009
I just read about “The September Issue,” a documentary about Vogue’s 2007 September Issue; with 840 pages, making it Vogue’s biggest, thickest, heaviest, extra large issue ever made. The film was directed and produced by R.J. Cutler who documents the team of editors, with legendary editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour as they create the issue. Sienna Miller was featured on the cover of the highly-anticipated issue and I cannot wait to see the film! “The September Issue” will be released in theaters on August 28, 2009. When it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, it won the excellence in cinematography award.

Brand Alert: Witches June 22, 2009
Lauren Alexander, designer of LNA, has teamed up with childhood friend Gabby Applegate to bring a fresh, or should I say goth couture look to the fall “black is hot” trend. The entire line is comprised of lace, velvet, silk, and spandex in none other than the witches preferred black. The collection includes everything from floor length velvet cloaks to lace cocktail dresses with rope details. Several designers featured lace on the fall runways and Witches was right on, catering to the avante-garde circle with unique pieces like their two-face leggings, where one leg is lace and the other leather.
Check out their Holiday ‘09 video
Here are some of there Holiday ‘09 looks. Make sure you keep an eye out for the line because the Witches are a brewin’ and its gonna be hot!

Grunge lingers into Summer June 22, 2009
Celebs like Mary-Kate Olsen loved their winter plaids so much that they have decided to carry the look into summer. It was the boyfriend jean with flannel in winter, but update the look for summer by pairing your cut offs and short shorts with your favorite plaid. Company 81 offers shirts that will give you the same look as Mary-Kate for a price that is unbeatable. With shirts ranging from $32-$42, you can buy a few for yourself and maybe even one for your boyfriend, because he is definitely going to want to steal yours.

Designer Look Out: Erika Hendrix June 19, 2009
I recently heard about this designer Erika Hendrix. Her clothing and jewelry are all handmade, so you know you are getting designer quality goods. The clothes are must have basics with a twist. The line is ideal for summer, using materials that are comfy, comfy, and all natural. I am especially into the tulip skirt and the v-neck slip dress. She has two stores in the US, neither being Los Angeles, but lucky for everyone, you can purchase her designs at several online boutiques such as Etsy, Smashing darling, and Shopflick. Check out her site at ErikaHendrix.com

June Gloom Go Away June 10, 2009
With June came the gloom. I tell myself I should be enjoying it because before I know it, the summer heat will arrive. I wanted to start a fashion diary so here I go. In the first photo I am wearing Abercrombie & Fitch denim shredded shorts, a Fin black knit scarf, the white striped sheer blouse and the blazer are both from Zara, and fringe moccasins from Urban Outfitters. In California, even the gloomy days allow for shorts because the sun is always trying to peek out.
My next look is my daytime out in the city look that I wore to see one of my best friend back from Brazil. We had a fun day strolling the streets of LA where I picked up these trendy glasses and lunched at Pink Taco in Century City. (I loved the table, I wish I had my camera to have taken a photo of the rusted turquoise table.) Back to what I was wearing; a knitted cream vest from Forever 21, my mom’s vintage print skirt that I wore as a top, a black belt that I bought for 3 euro’s in Italy while I was thrift shopping, and my grey Rich & Skinny jeans.

Designer Love: May 19, 2009
Zimmerman S/S 2010 runway show was a sure hit during Australia fashion week with breezy fabrics that were sheer brilliance. Featuring florals and prints that will keep you looking cool under the sun, Zimmerman offered a variety of dresses, skirts, and flowy tunics that re-instate the sheer trend. His amazing swimwear is at the forefront of fashion swimwear with sleek cuts and experimental construction all in bold, yet feminine colors from hot pink to an ocean green. I especially am fond of the rainbow tie-dye inspired dress. I’ve inserted a few of my favorite looks, but head over to his website for the entire line.
Isabel knows what the people want! May 13, 2009
Isabel Marant makes me hot for Summer with her spring ‘09 line. The boyfriend cuffed shorts are made to perfection with the slight fray. She truly understands trends as her collection touches upon every major one that is being seen today on the street. Cut outs are huge, and that white tunic is absolutely adorable. Not to mention her sheer tank dress and her colorful vest that is worn over a beautifully understated floral print. It is the perfect style, whether you are looking to be the hippie or the chic cowgirl.

My Video Vote: Bjork: Wanderlust May 8, 2009
If you haven’t seen Bjork’s Wanderlust video you need to check it out. Sweet effects of one’s outer self emerging out of a backpack to display the dynamic interaction between the outer-self and one’s inner core. Along with amazing art direction, the video has landed itself three nominations for the 2009 D&AD Awards, which are the most internationally respected and prestigious creative awards for the design and advertising industries. The video is nominated for the music video category, art direction and special effects. Along with Bjork, other artist nominated include Radiohead for House of Cards, Gnarls Barkley, and Goldfrapp’s Happiness video. I checked out most of the nominated artists, and my vote goes to Wanderlust. I have also attached Gnarls Barkley’s video for Who’s Gonna Save My Soul (because who hasn’t felt this way in their life?) Barkley’s video has nominations in the music video and animation categories.
